Zoetrope

$ 87.50 $ 125.00

This reproduction of an early optical device employing the phenomenon of "Retinal Persistence" or Image Retention" is a fine piece for explaining how animated movies work. Sir Issac Newton experimented with this concept in the seventeenth century.

In 1834 English mathematician George Horner proposed an apparatus that employed a cylindrical form, an open drum with slots at the top and an image strip placed at this bottom. This item is based on his work.

This piece is crafted of a polymer drum with a black metal base. The Zoetrope comes complete with 20 animation strips.
